History

1920

We began in Guatemala, founded as Kong Brothers in 1,920 by Don Federico Kong Ossaye, a hard-working and visionary man with a great interest in the industrial modernization of the country. He started his operations manufacturing soap to wash clothes and personal hygiene products of excellent quality at good prices.

1955

Our operations began in Guatemala in 1,955 when we were chosen by Colgate – Palmolive to begin the production of cleaning supplies.

1976

This year was the beginning of our participation in the beauty products market, both production and distribution of cosmetics. Both Companies, Industria La Popular, S.A. and Productos Finos, S.A. were founded as Kong Brothers subsidiaries. Therefore, REVLON, MAX FACTOR, SALLY HANSEN, ALMAY AND COVERGIRL became internationally well-recognized brands that began to be part of our world.

2007

We decided to adopt ISO 9000: 2008 system as the basic program to carry out all our operations, obtaining the corresponding recertifications from that year to date. This was done with the purpose of guaranteeing quality products starting with our processes improvement.

2015

The Company, La Popular, in order to look for constant innovation, acquires Brands as Olimpo, Swift and Plus Cream. Being the starting point to develop the category of liquid products in the Central American market.

2016

Thanks to the good results and constant growth of La Popular, this year an agreement was reached with Procter & Gamble to acquire the detergents Brand License under the name Fab for Central America, Belize, Panama, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru. This acquisition in addition to consolidate us in the region, allows us to get into the South American market.

2019

Almost a century of operations, more than 2,000 employees are part of our large family. With modern facilities and a constant investment, we guarantee processes and quality products, which include great value for the markets we attend. Our commitment is with the people who choose us. The community and the environment is what motivates us to improve daily our products in order to be always preferred in the market.
